The professional me

My passion for photography can be traced back 30 years ago when I went to Romania on my own with my first ever film camera. Since those early years I have experimented with many different cameras, travelled the world, met many fascinating people and captured so many memories. I was raised in the UK but I have spent much of my life aboard in Europe or Asia. I turned my hobby of photography into a full time career around 10 years ago. Photography is a universal language, understood and yet interpreted differently according to your own culture and lifestyle.

In 2017 I exhibited my underwater work at The Deep, one of the UK’s biggest aquariums as part of Hull’s City of Culture Art Exhibition highlighting the fragile underwater world. Since then I have been expanding my portfolio and challenging myself to develop across a broader range of photography specialisms. Having now proffesionally moved from Underwater photography to Portrait and Wedding photography it is a pleasure to work with many different cultures, briefs and exciting people. I like to shoot with as much natural light as possible using the natural backgrounds of Ko Lanta in many of my shots.

The most important thing to me about photography is understanding the needs and vision of the client and bringing those visions into print. I work in partnership with clients to ensure you feel at ease with the process, whether you want to be in front of, or working with me behind the camera. I take pride in delivering high quality photographs in a timely manner and I’m always keen to answer any questions you might have.

The other me!

They say it’s never dull in Hull but I have found many more enlightening moments on my travels and through work away from Hull. Originally from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire, I now call the beautiful island Ko Lanta home. After leaving the rat race in 2008 I travelled Australia, Asia, India and Africa before training to be a dive instructor. A few years after that I managed to combine my two greatest hobbies - diving and photography!

Most of what I know today about photography is self taught and hanging aorund a lot of other photographers bugging them about their cameras and styles! I like to make work fun for everyone, especially with my unique humour and wit!

When you have a hobby that is your job and you are not strapped to a desk, life can be pretty damn good!I love the fact that pretty much every shoot is different, the clients are different and the brief is always changing. I like to challenge myself when it comes to shooting using as much light as possible. Ko Lanta is the perfect backdrop for most shoots.

Passions apart from photography - spending time with my family and friends and my two dogs Bod and Betty, two cats Clive and Princess, cycling, boxing, football and watching rugby.
